For those widows and widowers with children, parenting must continue after loss. This workshop will guide participants in identifying their personal strengths and struggles with parenting in the aftermath of their loss. Together we’ll look at some common scenarios of conflict that can arise in families post-loss and examine unique solutions and methods for coping including strategies related to meaning-making, discipline and decision-making, and the roles of ritual and self-care. Participants will have an opportunity to detail a road map for rebuilding their family and navigating around the potholes their loss has left in their life and the lives of their children. We’ll also look at how the family may change over time post-loss, including dealing with dating and introducing a new partner into the family.
