Emotions often seem overwhelming and unmanageable right after loss. However, people who are more skilled at identifying and distinguishing between even the nuances of these negative emotions are able to use a broader range of emotional regulation strategies and thus are better equipped to cope with these emotions, despite their intensity. This workshop will explore how to do just that through teaching you how to manage your emotions by deconstructing emotions as they are being experienced through identifying the physiological sensations involved, naming the multiple possible emotions that are simultaneously being experienced, and then reconstructing the emotion using new terms. This workshop also explores how you can generate more positive emotions even after experiencing deep grief through maintaining physical wellbeing, positive reframing and practicing gratitude, enhancing your emotional vocabulary, and continuing on a never-ending journey of emotional self-discovery.
