This workshop is for those whose loss was not recognized or respected by friends or family. Whether because you were not legally married, in a non-traditional relationship, had never disclosed it, or it was just not accepted, you did not receive the support traditionally given by society to the bereaved. We will discuss the many ways that this “invisible bereavement” affects our grief experience and our ability to get support as we move through our grief. From legal complications to family matters, disenfranchised grief adds layers of pain to loss but there are ways to face it.
