In the unspoken hierarchy of death, dying by overdose, suicide or complications from alcohol use disorder are at the bottom. They are deaths that bring not only the expected feelings in grief, but also shame, a pile of complicated emotions and a veil of secrecy. Sarah Keast, a mother of 2, lost her husband Kevin to an accidental opioid overdose in 2016. Her life exploded into a million pieces and since then, she has been working tirelessly to rebuild her life and help others feel more supported and empowered to begin their own personal journey of healing after a traumatic loss.
