When someone loses a part of their physical body, their brain is unable to process the change. A person is left with phantom feelings and expectations, and in the absence feels as though the world is wrong, since we can’t comprehend that part of the body is now missing. Similarly, with losing a significant other, your brain (and you) have a tough time rationalizing part of you is now gone, and the world feels wrong. You’re not crazy! And hopefully this will help you understand why.
