Camp Widow San Diego
San Diego, California is home to the first ever Camp Widow weekend, and also our longest running camp location. We head to San Diego in the summer months to take advantage of the cool coastal temperatures and resort feel of this bay-front location. Our San Diego location also offers our once-a-year Camp Widow Kids program for those who are widowed and parenting kids between the ages of 5-17. Please see the Camp Widow Kids page for details.
*Registration Notice: Due to the unprecedented challenges associated with planning in-person events safely during this time, refunds for registrations to Camp Widow events are not available but we will be happy to transfer your registration to another event within one year of your original registration or offer a donation receipt if you choose not to attend. We appreciate your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you in San Diego!
*COVID-19 Management Plan:
In order to create a safe physical space that supports the safe emotional space for which Camp Widow is known, we will be asking each camper, regardless of vaccination status, to bring a COVID-19 at-home test (If you are unable to find an at-home testing kit in your area, we will have a limited number of tests available for sale onsite) which you will self-administer just before entering the registration area for Camp Widow. The first step of the registration process will be showing your self-administered negative test to our health check team. They will provide you with a wristband confirming that you’ve checked in and are ready to proceed with the registration process.
We highly recommend that in addition to testing onsite, each camper considers a self test prior to leaving for camp to ensure that you will have a negative test result when testing at camp. Please be prepared with a contingency plan should you test positive for COVID-19. Each camper will be responsible for themselves should they need to quarantine or be unable to attend Camp Widow due to a positive test result.
We appreciate your cooperation and welcome any questions you may have about our COVID-19 protocols.
Hotel Commitment to Cleanliness: The Marriott Marquis and Marina Hotel is committed to offering a safe stay for all of their guests. Please reference their updated cleaning policy for more information online here.
Campers are responsible for coordinating their own hotel reservations. Our discounted block is now open for the event, and you can access the reservation link on the Location Information page.
The story of Camp Widow® and the powerful connections made over our three day program will be the subject of a documentary filmed and crafted by the award winning team of Laura Green and Anna Moot-Levin of Stray Pony Productions. Filming will be done onsite during the Camp Widow program for wide shot scenes and background footage. Participation in the filming of individual conversations or personal interviews will be done only with the express permission of the people being filmed. Soaring Spirits is excited about the opportunity to share our resources with a wider audience through this documentary, but we hold maintaining the safe space of the campers onsite at each event as our highest value. Please feel free to reach out to our team with any questions you may have about this project.
