Shanna Zareski

Shanna Zareski is owner of her late husband’s veterinary practice, Western Veterinary Group, and lives in Palos Verdes Peninsula, California. She has a business degree from Gonzaga University and a masters in print journalism from the University of Southern California. Upon her husband’s sudden death, Shanna’s career path took a sharp left from teaching seventh and eighth grade English to learning the ropes of veterinary practice ownership. She is also working on a memoir and has plans to expand her husband’s nonprofit, The 4Ever Foundation, from finding cats forever homes to honoring Mike’s legacy by supporting a variety of causes he was passionate about. Shanna is mom to four kids: Dani, Hannah, Kiki and Drew; two dogs: Hope and Faith; and two cats: Roo and Zuma. She enjoys traveling with her kids and can’t wait to explore the world with them. Shanna joined the Soaring Spirits family after her husband, Mike, was killed in a plane crash on December 9, 2017. She credits Camp Widow with connecting her to a tribe “who just get it.” The “Badass Widow Warriors,” as her close group of widowed friends has dubbed themselves, navigate the evolving years of widowhood together and inspire Shanna every day with their support, understanding, love and humor.
