Marny Balodis

In 2002, after a short six week battle with cancer, Marny’s husband Keith died. She became a widow at the age of 30 and the only parent to two children, a son 3 years and a daughter 3 months old. After the death of her husband, Marny entered a journey that she was completely unprepared for. However, with the support of family and friends, joining local support groups and learning about grief, she has been able to recreate her world and create a new life for herself and her children. Marny was blessed with meeting a wonderful man and was married in 2007. The following year they welcomed another child into their family.

In 2011, Marny co-founded a non-profit organization in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada - The Hummingbird Centre for Hope. Our mission is to build a community of hope for widowed parents.
