Anne Gudger

Anne Gudger is the author of THE FIFTH CHAMBER, published by Jaded Ibis Press 2023. It’s Anne's journey through grief: how she was lost after her husband died when he was 36, when she was 28 and pregnant, how she found herself, how she remarried and had a daughter, how she rebuilt a beautiful life. Kirkus Review called The Fifth Chamber “an emotionally riveting memoir, raw and inspiring.” Anne writes mainly about grief—being widowed and more—and has been published in Newsweek, Slate, Real Simple Magazine, Cutthroat, CutBank, Columbia Journal, The Normal School, KHORA, The Los Angeles Review, and elsewhere. In March 2020, with her beloved daughter, she co-founded Coffee and Grief: a community that includes a monthly reading series focused on grief. They then launched a podcast called Coffee, Grief, and Gratitude. They both continue to grow and learn about grief by listening to others' stories. Anne’s big purpose is to normalize grief, to give grief a microphone. She lives in Banks, Oregon with her beloved husband.
