Overview
Soaring Spirits International (SSI) provides a positive peer community and research based, relevant virtual and in-person programming infused with a hope-building, life-affirming spirit for widowed people globally. SSI seeks a collaborative, passionate, and highly efficient Camp Widow Registration Coordinator to work under the direction of the Camp Widow Volunteer Coordinator and Camp Widow Director. This is a volunteer position tasked with organizing and managing onsite our registration desk for campers as well as managing registration volunteers throughout the weekend.
Assigned Duties
- Attend pre-camp volunteer orientation and post-camp debrief meeting
- Manage all registration volunteers with assistance of the Volunteer Coordinator
- Set up registration area to prepare for campers and serve as their initial welcome to camp
- Set up nametag tables (ribbons/pins/etc.)
- Welcome and check in campers for camp event using Event Squid online platform (Thursday evening, Friday morning, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening for banquet)
- Identify new campers who may be struggling and connect them with an ambassador or camper support
- Troubleshoot registration issues with the help of the Camp Widow Director
- Assist with stocking and manning name tag tables and swag (giveaway) tables
Desired Qualifications
- Lived experience with grief, loss, and bereavement
- Excellent self-awareness and empathy skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Comfort working independently, with a team player mindset
- Professional, patient, and thoughtful demeanor with excellent customer service skills
- Experience with Google Suite & Event Squid
- Ability to schedule meetings during PST hours
- Detail oriented and reliable
- Technologically savvy
- Volunteer management experience
- Ability to multitask and organize
- Interact with SSI staff and campers in accordance with SSI values
- Must be able to work in the early morning hours at camp
